Brown Sugar Kitchen is an Oakland, CA based breakfast and brunch restaurant that’s owned and operated by Executive Chef Tanya Holland. Brown Sugar Kitchen cooks with locally grown, organic and seasonal ingredients whenever possible.
The cuisine at Brown Sugar Kitchen reflects Tanya Holland’s interpretation of Soul Food. Her influences include her African-American heritage, her formal training at La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in France, and her general appreciation of a wide variety of cuisines.

Our thoughtful wine list is international and eclectic. We also feature wines from California African-American Vintners as well as wines from the South of France, where Tanya completed her first stagiere position. Look for a few of your favorite microbrews on tap.
